Alejandro Melendez is a first-generation Latiné designer working in theatre, opera, and live experience.
Recent credits include a disability-affirmative production of A Midsummer Night's Dream for Phamaly Theatre Company at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, the world premiere of The Last Play by Rickerby Hinds for the Latino Theatre Company at the Los Angeles Theatre Center, and Travis Chao’s immersive work REFLECT.
He has been recognized as a USITT Emerging Creative, an ETC Fred Foster Mentee, and a member of the LTC Director & Designer Colaboratorio.
In addition to his work for the stage, Alejandro serves as a Steering Committee member for the Latinx Theatre Commons and the lighting designer at WET Design.
Alejandro holds an MFA in Experience Design & Production from CalArts and a BA in Theatre from MSU Denver.
